ADEC Discusses Funding Opportunities for Research at UAEU
A delegation from Abu Dhabi Educational Council (ADEC) visited the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) to undertake a study of the current research conducted at UAEU and to discuss a mutual collaboration between both parties with regards to supporting future research and graduate studies at the University by providing funding and training. The delegation chaired by H.E. Dr. Arif Al Hammadi, Executive Director of Higher Education, ADEC, met with Prof. Mohamed Yousif Baniyas, UAEU Provost and Chief Academic Officer and Prof. Sehamuddin Galadari, Vice Provost for Research & Graduate Studies.
Prof. Baniyas said, "It gives me great pleasure to welcome the Council's delegation to UAEU. This collaboration between UAEU and ADEC follows the vision of H.H. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to strengthen UAEU’s role as a pioneer research university through developing communication and cooperation with organisations of the same interest."
Prof. Sehamuddin Galadari, Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies, held a meeting with the visiting delegation and some of the specialists in the field of research and graduate studies from the colleges of Education, Medicine, Engineering and Science. The meeting highlighted the significant research undertaken at UAEU and discussed obstacles facing this cooperation. Prof. Galadari stated, "No one can deny the important role ADEC plays in supporting education development in Abu Dhabi. We have a clear approach at the University to reinforce our partnership with the different organizations in order to achieve our goals and support scientific research."
Dr. Arif Al Hammadi expressed his appreciation to UAEU for their hospitality. "We are excited about our partnership with UAEU which is one of the Council top priorities considering it is the first and national university of the UAE, not forgetting the number 1 research University in the UAE. Today, we discussed many important projects to be undertaken. As an Education Council, we strive to assist our students in defining their specializations, improving their performance by providing training and scholarships in addition to supporting the vision of higher education and universities in the fields of research and graduate studies."
Dr. Arif Al Hammadi was briefed about the new research projects currently being undertaken at the University and concluded his visit by taking a tour of the Colleges. He praised the modern state-of-the-art research facilities and resources that UAEU is providing to their students and the community. “It is a source of pride for the people of the UAE.”
