UAEU Students Become Caricaturist

United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) students from the hostel department created a Caricature Gallery that captures the daily scenes of university life and the issues faced by students.

The Gallery was inaugurated by Dr. Abdulrahman Al Shayeb, Dean of Students, who praised the efforts of the students and their supervisors. "We, the management of UAEU, always seek to solve student problems and listen to them. The students are the foundation of our University. As we look at these caricature paintings we see the daily obstacles faced by them. These help us to guide our students in the right direction and to assist them with any obstacles they may face," said Dr. Abdulrahman.

"I would like to encourage everyone especially hostel staff to listen to students. From my daily experience, I find that the problems that our students have aren’t necessarily major ones. The stress that they may feel because of study or home, may only require someone to listen in-order for it to vanish," he added.

Seven students participated in creating this gallery, with 39 caricature portraits of different issues. Ms. Shaikha Ahmed, student at the College of Business and Administration and Assistant Supervisor at the Hostel, said, "There are many ways that students can deliver their message, it doesn’t always need to be verbal. We learn many skills at the University in order to develop dialogue. I think the caricature drawings, with its funny language and meaningful message will reach out to everyone."
