UAEU and Abu Dhabi Municipality Develop Mutual Cooperation

The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) hosted a meeting with a delegation from Abu Dhabi Municipality to discuss mutual relations between the two organizations. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Sehamuddin Galadari, Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies and attended by number of faculty members from the Colleges of Engineering, Science, and Information Technology along with the delegation of the Abu Dhabi Municipality: Mrs. Tafla Al Tamimi, Head of Statistics Unit - Research & Studies; Dr. Jamal El Zarif, Technical Advisor; Mrs. Maya Obeid, Senior Research Analyst - Research & Studies and Mr. Ahmed Bin Sulaiman, MOU/SLA Coordinator. The meeting was held upon request from Abu Dhabi Municipality as part of the implementation of their strategy which relies heavily on research.

Prof. Sehamuddin Galadari said "This meeting follows the encouragement of H.H. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, UAEU Chancellor, to develop collaborations among educational and service organizations as fundamental to serving the community. We all recognize the importance of  Abu Dhabi Municipality as a service organization, therefore, we are looking forward to celebrating the outcomes and achievements of the partnership and mutual effort between the two parties."

"We are honoured, at UAEU, to be part of Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 which aims to transform this city to become one of the most  prestigious cities and the best capital in the world, which can’t be achieved without the cooperative effort of government, non-government organizations and the involvement of the community. UAEU has strong relations with the Municipality as it is one of our prestigious partners for student recruitment and training." Prof. Galadari added.

Mrs. Tafla Al Tamimi, Head of Statistics Unit at Abu Dhabi Municipality, expressed her appreciation to the University and stated "The general trend at Abu Dhabi Municipality is based on the principal of conducting research prior to any project start-up. This requires recruiting specialists, with the UAEU being of strategic significance with top class researchers. Our MOU with UAEU determines the type of strategic partnership required between both parties".

The achievements and future projects of Abu Dhabi Municipality was presented by Mrs. Maya Obeid, Senior Research Analyst - Research & Studies, in order for the researchers at UAEU to understand how they can contribute to support these projects.
