UAEU Organizes Author Workshop to Inspire Scientific Publishing
The UAEU Libraries Deanship hosted a workshop for scientific authors. The Library worked with Springer and Edanz in organizing the Author Workshop for the University community and other interested participants in the Al Ain area. The workshop was designed to help authors write quality manuscripts for submission to SCI (Science Citation Index) indexed journals.
The workshop sessions included topics on how non-native English authors can overcome the language barrier, write a title that will attract readers, select a journal, write an abstract and develop a cover letter, as well as how to abide by publication ethics and handle peer-review comments.
Dr. Chris Bendall from Springer began the workshop with a presentation on important developments in scientific publishing and how scientists discover scientific content today and in the near future. Information about open access journal publishing and new tools for increasing global collaboration in research was also given. Dr. Warren Raye from Edanz then presented a two hour author workshop that resulted in an interactive discussion session with many questions.
The workshop provided insightful information and expert advice on scientific authorship, as presenters delineated for new and prospective authors practical steps to take in getting their papers accepted and published.
