Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, Vice Chancellor of United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) inaugurated, at the new campus in Al Ain, the first exhibition for industrial companies organized by College of Engineering, titled: Industry Walk “Walk Through Opportunities". The inauguration was attended by Prof. Mohamed Yousif Baniyas, UAEU Provost, Dr. Abdulrahman Al Shayeb, Dean of Students, Prof. Reyadh Almehaideb, Dean of College of Engineering, and representatives of companies sponsoring the event: Strata Manufacturing (Platinum Sponsor), ADNOC (Gold Sponsor), Schlumberger (Silver Sponsor). The event aims at strengthening the relations among the College of Engineering , the University and industrial companies which recruit University graduates. The students and graduates were briefed about opportunities for training and employment by the participating companies. The exhibition was a platform for students to meet representative of companies directly and to obtain information related to the working environment in each company, job vacancies after graduation and if their interests and majors meet the needs of the local job market. H.E. Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, UAEU Vice Chancellor, commended the participation of the industrial sector in general and the role of the concerned companies and organizations in adopting UAEU students in line with UAE’s vision for pioneering and elevating students and graduates to the highest levels in all fields of industry and science. He said, "Such exhibitions provide additional opportunities for students and graduates to be introduced to future jobs according to their majors." Prof. Reyadh Almehaideb, Dean of College of Engineering, highlighted the role of UAEU in supporting innovation, inventions and creativeness of students in the University. Dr. Samera Alzaroouni, Associate Dean for Students and Alumni Affairs at the College of Engineering and Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, stated that, "These exhibitions introduce students to the types of skills, abilities and specializations required in Engineering, Science and Administration in the UAE industrial sector. In addition to introducing companies and business organizations to the capabilities that UAEU develops in their students and graduates as well as giving them the chance to display their activities, jobs and methods to support students. Approximately two thousands university students are expected to visit the exhibition as well as students of high schools from different educational zones in UAE. A number of companies participated in the exhibitions including Strata, ADNOC, Schlumberger, Mubadala, Petrofac Emirates, National Petroleum Construction Company, Masdar Institute, Global Aerospace Logistics, Emirates Steel, Emirates Aluminium, Emirates Institution for Advanced Science and Technology, Ducab, Baker Hughes, ADASI, Abu Dhabi Oil Company and Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation.
