UAEU Strengthens Relations with Japan

In support of scientific and research cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and Japan, H.E. Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, Vice Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) welcomed a delegation from the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry at the new UAEU campus in Al Ain to discuss academic and research exchange opportunities.

Mr. Noriyshi Fukuoka, Deputy Director of Healthcare Industries Division informed the UAEU representatives about the current healthcare systems in Japan and the services provided for patients, along with elaborating on the Japenese medical technology and medical research concerning emergency and accidents.

Prof. Mohamed Yousif Baniyas, Provost, UAEU, followed by explaining the healthcare system in the UAE as well as the latest developments of the College of Medicine & Health Sciences at the UAEU which includes 40 research labs, exam specialized centers, a stimulation center and modern medical devices similar to those in the best healthcare systems in the world.

Dr. Al Noaimi highlighted, "There are many common issues between the UAE and Japan and we, as a research intensive University, seek to enrich this cooperation for the mutual benefit of the two countries, specifically on the topics related to research and education.” Both parties discussed the possible exchange of faculty members and students and Dr. Al Noaimi briefed the delegation about the scientific centers within the University, in particular the ones related to clean energy and the medical field, as these receive support from Japanese companies in exchange for expertise aimed at completing the research experiments successfully. 

The Japanese delegation praised the cooperation between the UAE and Japan. They expressed their gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, UAEU Chancellor, for his hospitality and support. The delegation later accompanied Prof. Sehamuddin Galadari, on a tour of the College of Medicine & Health Sciences.
