UAEU to Host the 9th International Conference on Innovations in Information Technology

Under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), the College of Information Technology(CIT) at UAEU are hosting 9th International Conference on Innovations in Information Technology (Innovations’13) to be held at UAEU, Al Ain from the 17th-19th March, 2013. Innovations 2013 brings together eminent research scientists and prominent professionals from the IT industry to discuss contemporary developments, which are at the forefront of information technology and its applications to better serve economies and societies. Conference participants include academics and researchers from around the globe. Innovations 2013 is technically sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), which is a nonprofit organization that and is the world's largest professional association for the advancement of technology, and is financially supported by partners from the government and industry sectors including Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA), ESRI and Visionaire/Arrive.

In addition to the excellent collection of peer-reviewed research papers that will be presented at the conference, Innovations 2013 features keynote presentations delivered by Dr. Joao Schwarz Dasilva who drove the Future Internet initiative for the EU commission, and Dr. Michael Gould who is ESRI’s Global Education Manager. Dr. Dasilva will raise awareness about the rising “Big Data” trend which is evolving as a result of the wide internet proliferation in every sector of our life. Dr. Gould will shed light on geo-enabling decision-making processes to build smart cities and preserve our environment. In addition, Innovations 2013 includes two other distinguished lectures from Dr. Latif Ladid, a senior researcher at the University of Luxembourg, and Dr. Ahmed E. Kamal, a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Iowa State University in USA. As President of IPV6 forum, Dr. Labid will highlight the addressing space extended by IPV6 network protocol to sustain internet growth and continuity. Dr. Kamal, on the other hand will introduce cognitive radio networks, to enhance the spectrum utilization of wireless communication in multicasting applications. Finally, Innovations 2013 features industry experiences through three presentations delivered by technical personnel from Berkeley University and UAE ID Authority. Michelle Ziegmann who is a Technical Project Manager at the University of California Berkeley in Educational Technology Services, will relay the experience of Berkeley University with Opencast Matterhorn, an open source platform for capturing and managing A/V contents in a campus context. Mr. Yousef Salem Aljaberi and Mr. AbdulRahman Fawzi from UAE Emirates ID Authority will share with the audience the on-going information systems related projects being developed by UAE ID Authority. The 2013 conference program is structured into the following thematic technical sessions:
